Swipe Right to 'I Do'

Two Worlds Collide

They came from very different worlds. Their paths might have never crossed if not for the internet and dating apps. Sometimes, the right connection happens exactly when you’re looking for it. But even when you're ready, the beginning doesn’t always go as planned.

Their story almost went unnoticed when Estevan’s first message went unanswered. Yet, their journey was just beginning. In March 2020, they matched on Tinder, and their first date at Culinary Dropout in Gilbert quickly became unforgettable. Despite waiting over an hour for a table — and Estevan’s twice-dropped food mishap — their conversation was effortless and filled with laughter.

Quarantine and Connection

When the world pressed pause during the COVID-19 lockdowns, Jewellissa and Estevan suddenly had more time together than they ever expected — and they made the most of it. They binged Tiger King, tag-teamed their way through Borderlands, and slowly settled into a rhythm that felt easy and right.

It was also during this time that Jewellissa discovered a few things: Estevan was wildly passionate about Papa Murphy’s pizza... and mint ice cream. Being the sweetheart she is, she didn’t say a word for the first year. She smiled through every slice, scooped every bite, and never once mentioned that Papa Murphy’s wasn’t quite her style — and mint ice cream? Definitely not her favorite. But love has a way of growing through the small things.

Building a Life Together

When Estevan bought his first house in November 2020, it was just a house — not yet a home. That’s where Jewellissa stepped in. By Thanksgiving weekend, Jewellissa had moved in, and their lives began. She brought warmth, personality, and little treasures from her travels that turned the space into something special. Though Estevan, a minimalist at heart, was initially hesitant about all the decorating, over time he grew to love the cozy, lived-in feel she created. This marks the true beginning of their life as a team.

As time passed, their individual accomplishments became milestones they celebrated together. In 2023, after five years of long days and late nights attending classes, Estevan proudly became a journeyman pipefitter welder — a testament to his dedication and grit. Not long after, in 2024, Jewellissa graduated from ASU with her bachelor’s degree in accounting, balancing full-time work with late nights of studying and assignments. Through it all, they looked out for each other in the everyday moments, from clean clothes ready for long workdays to warm meals during late-night studying.

Through these experiences, they learned to work hard and lift each other up, forging a partnership rooted in mutual support and respect.

At home, they’ve found a rhythm that fits them perfectly. Estevan takes charge in the kitchen, filling their home with the comforting aromas of his cooking — a talent that has become a favorite of Jewellissa’s mom. Jewellissa keeps things tidy and cozy, managing the cleaning and laundry with care. Estevan proudly admits he hasn’t cleaned a toilet in years and is quite happy to keep it that way.

It’s in this give-and-take, this unspoken understanding, that their love deepens. They support each other’s strengths and cover for each other’s weaknesses. Their home is more than just a shared space — it’s where two very different people come together to build a life filled with a lot of love, appreciation for each other, and a strong sense of partnership.

Most recently, in 2025, Jewellissa purchased her first home. With Estevan’s support along the way, it became a meaningful milestone for both of them. Moving closer to the city, they began a new chapter together — creating a space that truly felt like theirs and setting the foundation for the future they’re building together.

Their Little Crew: The Fur Babies

Their relationship grew — and so did their family.

It started with Maxi. A tiny dog with a huge personality, she strutted into their lives like she owned the place — and to be fair, she kind of does. Sassy, spoiled, and confident, Maxi makes sure everyone knows who’s in charge… mostly by barking at them.

Not long after, Winston joined the family. Calm, quiet, and incredibly tolerant, he adores his dog siblings — even if he doesn’t always understand their energy. He never makes a sound… except during his early morning zoomies, when he races through the house like he’s on a mission only he understands.

Then came Rover, the big-hearted, floppy-eared goofball who just wants to love and be loved (and occasionally forgets where he’s supposed to pee). What he lacks in house manners, he makes up for in charm and tail wags.

Together, the three of them fill the home with personality and warmth — each one adding their own spark to the love-filled chaos Jewellissa and Estevan call everyday life.

Yin and Yang

They’re opposites in all the best ways. Estevan is the calm, steady yin to Jewellissa’s lively, adventurous yang. She’s the spark that encourages him to step outside his comfort zone and see the world through a new lens.

Travel wasn’t really on Estevan’s radar before they met. But with Jewellissa’s gentle nudging, he found himself packing bags and exploring places he’d never imagined — from kayaking down the shimmering waters of Florida’s Rainbow River, to ringing in New Year’s in the bright lights of Las Vegas, and watching Fourth of July fireworks over the water in San Diego.

Each trip brought new experiences and memories, but more importantly, they brought the two of them closer together, discovering not just new places but new sides of themselves and each other. Their differences became their greatest strengths, perfectly balancing one another as they navigated life — and the world — hand in hand.

Together, they have created a partnership rooted in harmony, respect, and love.

The Proposal and Beyond

Their first trip together was to Sedona to celebrate Estevan’s 26th birthday — a peaceful weekend getaway filled with laughter, scenic hikes, and quiet moments that would mark the beginning of many more adventures together. One of their most treasured spots was a quiet creek off a scenic hiking trail, where they shared picnics and peaceful afternoons.

When it came time to celebrate Jewellissa’s 26th birthday, returning to Sedona felt like the perfect way to honor how far they'd come together. Though the creek had become “their spot,” it wasn’t where the proposal happened — Estevan figured that would be a little too predictable.

Instead, the day before her birthday, he chose a breathtaking overlook on the red rocks. As the sun dipped below the horizon and the stars began to appear overhead, he asked her to marry him. And, as he likes to remind her with a grin, he technically didn’t wait five years to propose.

Looking Ahead

With three beloved pets, two homes, and countless shared memories, Jewellissa and Estevan look forward to starting a family and creating new traditions that will carry them through the years. What began as a simple swipe blossomed into a love story filled with laughter, strength, and unwavering devotion.

From a missed message to building a beautiful life together, they dream of growing old side by side, becoming united as one through life’s joys and challenges. Now, they eagerly await the day they say “I do,” ready to embrace all of life’s adventures hand in hand.

They are ready to begin their next chapter as partners in life and love — committed to building a future filled with love, laughter, and lasting togetherness.
